NEW!! GLASS ART - Piwakawaka Feather Earrings - "Pounamu" Green/Gold
These elegant earrings represent feathers from the tail of our very cute and playful native fantail, piwakawaka.
Each "feather" is made from a base of handcut copper that has been coated with several layers of enamel including a final, glossy, transparent shade.
Pure gold leaf has been added to the top layer, then fired in a kiln, so there is no chance of it flaking off.
FINAL PHOTO: The back of each piece has also been enamelled to provide weight and prevent cracking, also adding to its durability.
The inspiration behind these colours is South Island's West Coast. The deep, dark green shade represents Aotearoa's sacred greenstone, pounamu, and the rivers they are found in. The gold also represents the gold found in these rivers.
Gold vermeil (gold-plated sterling silver) hooks match the earrings perfectly.
Length: approximately 7cm and width: 1cm at its widest point.
PLEASE NOTE THE MAKING TIME FOR THESE EARRINGS IS APPROXIMATELY 3 DAYS. If your order is urgent, please let us know.
