The red poppy is a symbol of war remembrance all over the world. During WWI, the red poppy was one of the first plants to grow and bloom on battlefields in the Belgian region of Flanders, hence the poem, written by Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae, "In Flanders fields".
New, small flowers: choose from single poppies or a bouquet of seven transparent and opaque red poppies with detailed black centres.
More complex flowers: "blooming" flowers measure approximately 25mm x 25mm across and the large poppies are approximately 35mm x 40mm across. The stems are made from copper wire and measure 9cm long.
Our glass poppy stems are a special way to remember our Anzacs. Each petal has been made using various shades of transparent red and black Venetian glass, shaped using simple tools, to give them a soft and natural look. All flowers are made by hand, free-form (no molds used). The lampwork technique has been used to create them, including melting the glass with a hot torch, then kiln-firing to ensure strength and durability.
Please note these flowers will take approximately 5-10 business days to make.
10% of sales will be donated to RSA NZ.
We guarantee the high quality of our mini flowers, but they are made of glass so please handle with care.
